POSITION:                           

Teacher Assigned “A” Program Associate, FutureReadyNYC, Healthcare and Life Science Pathways

(FOR INTERNAL CANDIDATES ONLY)

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:   

             Licensed, Appointed and Tenured New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) Teacher

                                                                                                                 

SELECTION CRITERIA: 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of middle and high school curriculum in healthcare and life sciences pathways
  • Ability to adapt curriculum for a variety of learners, including students with disabilities, multilingual learners, and over age, under credited youth.
  • Willingness to travel to different locations to deliver professional learning (PL) opportunities.
  • Three prior years of Satisfactory rating as Teacher Assigned or Effective or Highly Effective rating as Teacher.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, design, deliver, and evaluate PL opportunities.
  • Extremely well-organized; able to work under pressure and meet frequent and sometimes changing deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • High standards for personal excellence, with the ability to learn quickly and continuously and be responsive to constructive feedback.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in working with education personnel internal and external to NYCPS.

 

 

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:       

●        Create, review, and select curriculum in pathway aligned subjects.

●        Support schools and teachers in adapting curriculum to the needs of middle schools and high schools.

●        Plan, design, and facilitate professional learning opportunities in healthcare and life sciences pathway aligned to up to four occupational titles such as pre-nursing, lab tech, etc.

●        Plan and design pathway-specific learning activities for students, families, and school communities.

●        Design PL and instructional materials, including pacing guides, PL activities, workbooks, assessments, etc.

●        Conduct outreach and communicate with school staff to ensure that all events and curricula are implemented efficiently.

●        Assists the FutureReadyNYC team in administration of program efforts, including outreach, registration, and        program support.

●        Collaborate with Superintendent instructional staff to support PL planning and implementation.

●        Attend and participate in team and department meetings.          

HOURS:                           

As per UFT Collective Bargaining Agreement

8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Monday Through Friday

 

School Year (September 3, 2024, through June 30, 2025) plus five additional days winter, spring or summer recess pursuant to UFT contract, to be determined by supervisor. 

The hours of service of a teacher shall be thirty-seven and one-half hours per week exclusive of a daily thirty-minute lunch period.  Flexibility for earlier start or later finish to the day with approval of supervisor. Requirement to work up to 30 per session days during summer vacation period, starting July 2024.
